A fair and speedy trial is a right, not a luxury and we are pushing for the Kalief Browder bill to pass into law. The law deals with the lack of a speedy trial for too many people who've been arrested. This is supposed to be a right; however, by NY not having one in place it gives the prosecutors an unfair advantage. Because of this loophole, many people, like Kalief Browder, spend years on Rikers Island!
A lot of innocent people take plea deals just to get out of the loop of going back and forth to court so that that can finally be physically "free" after years on the Island.
